Looking for a great field trip opportunity for your students that is both educational and fun? The Lincoln Heritage Museum is it!
Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. during the school year, the museum becomes a giant classroom, as museum volunteers share the life, legacy, and character of Abraham Lincoln in engaging and entertaining ways. Students also get a broad overview of the museum and its exceptional collection of historical 19th century artifacts.
The Museum has design elements that you would expect only in a big city museum. The first floor exhibit area showcases more than one hundred rare and original historic pieces relating to Lincoln and the Civil War, complete with stimulating visuals and story-telling which complement the pieces and provide historical context. Upstairs through object reproductions, attractive graphics, and realistic 19th-century room recreations, students can engage with history, and feel like they are stepping into the past.
